Google for India Event Roundup - All You need to Know About Google's 16 December Event!




The Google for India Campaign mainly concentrated on the development of internet in rural areas.

Mr. Rajan Anandan discussed how Google has made internet evolve in India.

Next up, Mrs. Tamar Yehoshua ( VP, Product Mangement ) discusse how Computers and Internet has evolved from Big Full SIzed Desktops to Smartphones.
The growth of smartphones has increased.
Today 3.4 Million smartphones are activated everyday. This, truly is an enormous scale. And by 2020, Google Estimates 5 billion Users for internet.

Mrs. Yehoshua discusses that Seatch has evolved to answer our needs.
The way we interact with our smartphones is very different from the way we interact with out computer.
Google wants to make sure that Google now has an input and responds as if we’re talking to a friend. You can also ask questions in hindi, as you can in english.

Searches in Mobile have overtaken searches in desktop.
India crossed them in May 2013 and are way ahead than other countries.

How Google is making Search In India Better

Voice queries have increased in India as well as other countries.

Google search is optimized for faster search resutlts by loading faster, decreasing the amount of data (images etc.) that needs to be loaded.

YouTube FanFest, Comedy hunt etc. are things that they’ve done to increase the amount of people being content creators.

Marian Croak (VP Google Access) discusses how Google is working to provide universal access of Internet.

The State of Global Internet Access is very poor, so Google has partnered with various companies to bring billions of users to the internet.

Marian mentions about Project Loon. Google is testing these high altitude balloons to connect people in hard to reach regions that are sparsely populated to the internet.

Google is hoping to make this project, a successfull one in India.

As Sunder Discussed, Google is working on providing Internet acess on railway stations here in India which is going to be the largest, and fastest globally.

Google is willing to provide exceptional internet services. Google is working with Indian Railways and other Transports to do so.

Caeser starts off with talking about Android One. Android One phones are now over 20 countries. Android One is Google’s mission to bring the latest android updates as they come for just a few bucks.

The Latest Marshmallow has become more fluid, there are alot of improvements, from animations to battery life and to performance.

Ceaser says that Google Translate Translates more than  a million words every second.

Google runs Translate Community so that Translate works better for everyone where people come forward in helping google improve their Translate Feature. They have run Translateathons to do so.

They demonstrate Translate’s new camera feature.

Google is working on Tap to translate so that you can translate from Hindi to English or vice versa and you can straightly copy and paste.

This service is in works and will be available in 2016.

Google has also reduced the size of language packs by 90%.

Ceaser also discusses how they’ve enhanced Chrome which loads fast by not loading the images.

Google is implementing ChromeBits so that people can use Chrome OS which is a stick on their displays.

The Chromebit will cost 7,999 Rupees.
