Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Speakers Review: Best Budget Speakers?

These are the Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Speakers for Rs 1,999. Are they worth spending the cash? Or just some chinese product that wants to get fame? Let’s find out.

BUILD AND DESIGN:

The Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Speakers come with a stretched out rectangular looking body which is all aluminium. At a price of Rs 1,999, nothing goes wrong here. The Speakers feel really premium in the hand, and also, they have a solid build. Dropping these a couple of times won’t actually affect them on the audio output, the only thing affected would be the body of the speakers, where you will get a tid bid of dents etc. but that is completely okay. The Speakers weigh approximately 270 grams which isn’t the most lightweight speaker you’ll own, but, I Didn’t have any problems with them. The speakers also come with a carrying pouch if you wanna take them to trips which you would, for sure. But, if i talk about myself, i literally never used it. But anyways, they are providing you with one, so it is another green signal. In all, the build quality and design of these speakers are perfect and I would rate them 10 points out of 10.

Next let us talk about the Ports of the Speakers and the Bluetooth Connectivity.

The speaker comes with Bluetooth 4.0 and has a range of 15 metres which is less for me but it is okay.
Up front on the speaker, we have a lot of circle cut outs which is the space where the sound comes out from, below them is a Mi Logo in Golden color and a square box. On the left hand side, we have an Aux In port if you want to connect the speakers via a 3.5mm cable instead of Bluetooth for some reason, below that is a mic which is used for answering calls and does provide awesome call quality with no problem what so ever. Below that is the Micro USB port for Charging the Speakers and they take around 1-1 and a half hours to charge from 0 to a 100 percent. Below all of this, is a Xiaomi logo. On the right hand side, there is a play pause button which also acts as the power off and power on button and also, the same button is used to pick up and hang up calls. Below that is a Volume + button, then a volume - button and bellow that is a Battery level percentage button. All the buttons are nice, intact and good to press.

In this department as well, I’d rate the speakers 10 out of 10

Next up, let us talk about the battery life.

The Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Speaker comes with a 1500 mAh battery inside. As per Xiaomi, the battery should provide you around 8 hours of music playback, but the maximum it went for me is 5-6 hours. On average you can easily get more than 5 hours of battery life on these speakers.

Id rate the battery life of this 9 points out of 10.

Next, lemme show you how you can actually use these speakers. Okay so to turn them on for the first time, you need to press and hold the play button for 2-3 seconds and you will hear a bubble sound and the speakers will turn on. For the very first time, the speakers will automatically go into the pairing mode. The button below them can be used to Turn the volume up and holding the same will change the track. The volume down button is the opposite of it.
Below these three keys is the battery percentage key which will tell you the amount of juice left in the speaker when you press it and enter pairing mode when you press and hold it. So, that is pretty much how you use the speaker!

At last, let’s talk about the most crucial part of this review, the speaker quality.

Coming on to the audio performance, the speaker offers a pretty loud and clear sound considering its compact design. It doesn’t seem like so much of sound is coming out of such a small device. You can even plan of having dance parties and these speakers will be ideal for most of the situations. The speakers are bass heavy, clear and crisp. They have perfect highs, mids and bass. Sometimes, on some particular tracks, the bass might overshadow the sound but you can easily tweak that in any amp application. The best part is, even if you put this speaker at the highest volume, it won’t distort sound, which is something that is missing on other speakers of this range. The speaker is directed more towards loud bass heavy tracks like EDM’s etc. The speaker vibrates a lot at higher volumes and if you keep it flat on a plain surface like this.then it would surely move away from its place. However, the vibration causes no problem whatsoever.

I’d rate the sound quality of these speakers full again!

In all, these are great budget speakers! They are balanced on sound and don’t break the bank! You can easily buy these speakers and be happy for the rest of your life.  One thing that i would like to say is that Xiaomi should provide an app for the Speaker so that you can tweak the bass cause sometimes, the bass is too loud which is not required. An app from Xiaomi would give more audio control over the speaker and would be really beneficial for anyone who just wants to mess around with the speaker.
